Top Songs

Here are the ground rules for the Top 151 Songs of the Decade list.

• This is a Best list.  Not My Favorite, or Most Influential, or Copying Pitchfork.
• The actual criteria includes some of those things.
• No more than four songs by any one band/artist.  That would be boring and out me as a total fanboy.
• No more than one song off any one album.  That would also be boring, and the entire list would be made up of 25 albums.  I have made allowances, however, for extreme cases where the second song deserved to be on the list of its own merit, and the album was fucking great.  I think that happened like three times.
• The ALBUM had to be released in the United States AFTER January 1st, 2000.  No singles from the decade when the album was 1999.  And I'm talking US release, not international.  So singles from Play do not count, but songs on Agaetis Byrjun do.
• There are songs from 2009.  Because it's been a good year already.  I started the list in September so if something awesome came out after that, sorry.  Better luck next decade.
